How we research and write

Every page goes through the same six steps, and a page that fails a check cannot be published.

Updated

1. Collect sources

Facts come from official sources first: the official website, official news posts, the official video channel and the store listings. Where the official material is silent, we compile player test reports from the closed beta and from launch play, and cross-check them before anything goes on a page. We do not use leaks or datamines. The official sources are listed at the bottom of each page.

2. Pull out the facts

From those sources we keep only facts: names, numbers, dates, versions and what a patch changed. Each fact is stored with the address it came from, and every number in a stats table on this site is checked against one of those facts. A player report becomes a fact only when two independent reports agree; a single report is written as one tester's report.

3. Write from the facts

First drafts are written with AI assistance. The drafting step works from the fact sheet only, not from other people's articles or the wording of the sources, which keeps the wording and the structure our own. Nothing in a draft is published until the team has checked it in step 6.

4. Add what only we can add

Each page has to include something you cannot get by collecting facts: the criteria behind a ranking and the reason for every tier, our view on strengths and weaknesses, and at least one recommendation. Our rankings are a paper judgement from the official kits and mechanics, not from hands-on play. Pages say this at the top, and we update rankings once we have tested them in the live game.

5. Automated checks

Before the site is built, a script checks every page. It fails a page that is too close to any of its sources or to another page on this site, has a number without a source, is missing a required section, is shorter than the minimum for its type, or still contains placeholder text.

6. Review and sign-off

The team reads each page against the official sources and the player reports we compile, fixes anything the sources do not support and signs the page off with a date. Only signed-off pages are published. The check covers the title, the description and any image text as well as the body.

Updates and corrections

Each page shows the game version it was checked against and the date. When a patch changes something, we re-check the affected pages and log ranking moves at the bottom of the tier list. Mistakes readers report are fixed and listed on our corrections page.

What we will not publish

  • Anything that gives an unfair advantage or breaks the game's rules, such as modified clients, unofficial servers or ways to duplicate items.
  • Download links to unofficial copies of the game.
  • Codes we have not tried ourselves.
  • Official artwork used as if it were ours. We use our own screenshots, our own illustrations, or official press-kit images with credit.

AI tools

We use AI tools to help draft pages and to draw some illustrations. We say so because it is how we work: AI helps with the first draft, and the team checks every fact, ranking and recommendation against the official sources and the player reports we compile before a page goes live. The team named on each page is responsible for what it says. Illustrations drawn with AI are new artwork, not copies of official art.
