Keres in our tier list
A Keres delivers steady close-range damage through fast combos and skill-driven follow-ups. That is strong, but the best damage needs those follow-ups set up first, which fits our A definition. See the full Monster Hunter Outlanders Tier List.
Keres strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- Fast, relentless Dual Blades combos keep damage coming with no long charge or wind-up.
- Certain skills open enhanced follow-ups, so a good combo always has a clear next step.
- Dual Blades build Demon Gauge in Demon Mode and spend it on enhanced Archdemon Mode attacks, which gives Keres a steady rhythm on paper.
- Melee Sharpness never wears down, so constant pressure costs no whetstone breaks.
Weaknesses
- Keres has to stay close to the monster, and the card lists no guard, parry or ranged option.
- Nothing on the card helps squadmates, so Keres brings damage and nothing else to a squad.
Our take
Day-one call: take Keres if you like fast melee and want the Disruptor with the simplest loop on paper. Keep the combos going, and pair Keres with Arkaya or Madelyn for the team help the kit does not bring.
Yes, Keres is a strong pick. We rank Keres in A tier on our day-one list: a Dual Blades Disruptor whose fast combos keep the damage flowing, with stronger follow-ups once certain skills open them. Keres adds nothing for squadmates, so pair Keres with a Support.
What the official card tells us
Keres wins fights by staying on the monster. The card describes fast, relentless Dual Blades combos and adds that certain skills unlock enhanced follow-ups. There is no stance to manage and no meter named on the card itself, which makes Keres the most direct of the four Disruptors on paper.
The weapon adds a second layer. The official Dual Blades overview describes rapid hits and agile combos, with Demon Mode strengthening attacks and filling the Demon Gauge, and Archdemon Mode turning that gauge into enhanced attacks that drain it. How Keres’s own follow-ups interact with that cycle is not spelled out.
What the card leaves out matters too: no guard, no parry, no ranged option and no effect for allies. Everything Keres brings comes through damage up close.
Where Keres fits in a squad
A squad holds four Adventurers: the one you control plus three AI squadmates, or, as we expect online, one per player, though that is not confirmed yet. Keres fills a close-range damage slot. The Co-Op Skill needs every other squad member to hit the part the first Adventurer chose, and a fighter who already stands at the monster should find that easy to follow, at least on paper.
Because the kit offers nothing for allies, Keres works best next to someone who does. Arkaya and Madelyn are the natural partners. On our team ranking, Pepper sits above Keres because ranged fire suits the Co-Op Skill better, so Keres is a damage pick rather than a team anchor. The full overall order is on our Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list.
What we will check after launch
The game went live on October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (October 29 in Asia). Now that it is live, these are the questions for Keres:
- Which skills open the enhanced follow-ups, and how often a normal combo reaches them.
- How Keres handles the Demon Gauge cycle next to Haze and Raya.
- How well Keres keeps up pressure from a squadmate slot.
If the follow-ups turn out easy to reach, Keres could climb. Any move goes into the tier list changelog with the reason.
What to pair with Keres
- Arkaya: In the closed beta tests Arkaya's shield reached every squad member, which gives a close-range fighter like Keres a cushion.
- Madelyn: Madelyn boosts allies close to a Spore detonation and carries medicines, covering the team help Keres lacks.
- Luka: Luka adds very mobile ranged damage, so the squad has a second angle of attack while Keres stays on the monster.
Keres FAQ
Is Keres good in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
Yes, Keres is a strong pick: we rank Keres in A tier on our day-one list as a Dual Blades Disruptor built on fast, relentless combos. The catch is that the biggest hits come from follow-ups that certain skills unlock.
What weapon does Keres use?
Keres uses Dual Blades, one of 3 Adventurers on the roster with that weapon. The other two are Haze and Raya.
Who should I pair with Keres?
Arkaya and Madelyn are our first picks to pair with Keres. Arkaya's shield reached every squad member in the closed beta tests, and Madelyn adds an ally boost and medicines, which covers what Keres lacks.
What class is Keres?
Keres is a Disruptor, one of 4 in that class with Raya, Luxheart and Pepper. On our class list, Keres leads the Disruptors.
Is Keres good for beginners?
Fairly. Keres sits in A on our beginner list because fast combos are easy to grasp, but Keres must stay close to the monster with no guard to fall back on.
Which is better, Keres or Raya?
On paper, Keres. Both are Dual Blades Disruptors, but Keres builds damage through combos and follow-ups, while Raya spends stamina to speed up the Demon Gauge, a narrower style. Keres is A and Raya is C on our list.
Is Keres good solo?
Workable. Keres sits in B on our solo list: the combos keep damage up when Keres is the Adventurer you control, but there is no guard or ranged option when a hunt goes wrong, and nothing in the kit helps your AI squadmates.
