Our take

  • For the Fated Adventurer, we would fill whatever role your three squadmates leave open. With Madelyn and Arkaya in squadmate slots, an Assault Fated Adventurer covers damage, which matches the example the official guide uses.
  • Do not read Support as healer. Of the four Supports, only Madelyn has a stated ally boost on the official card, and Arkaya's squad shield comes from the closed beta tests, so check the kit, not the label.

How we rank Monster Hunter Outlanders adventurers

Role fit
How clearly the kit delivers what its class label suggests on paper. The official material names the classes without defining them, so we judge each kit against its classmates.
Squad value
What the Adventurer adds to the other three squad members, AI squadmates included. Stated ally boosts and squad-wide shields count the most.
Ease of use
How much setup the kit needs before it pays off: a gauge to fill, a stance to manage or hits to take first.

Why each adventurer is in its tier

S The leader of its class: the first Adventurer we would take for that role.

Each class has a clear leader on paper. Luka is the only Assault with a ranged weapon and adds very high mobility. Keres keeps steady pressure with fast combos, the most dependable Disruptor loop we can read. In Support, Madelyn has the only official ally boost and Arkaya's shield reached the whole squad in the closed beta tests, so the two share the top.

  • Luka: Leads Assault: ranged damage with very high mobility, while the other four Assault picks all fight in melee.
  • Keres: Leads Disruptor with chained Dual Blades combos, the simplest damage loop of the four Disruptors on paper.
  • Madelyn: Co-leads Support with the only official ally boost: detonated Spores lift Madelyn and allies close by.
  • Arkaya: Co-leads Support: in the closed beta tests the shield went to the whole squad. Testers there report low personal damage.

A Strong members of their class, a step behind the leader because of a condition or a narrower job.

Ouyang Varen and Pyro are strong Assault picks that trade Luka's range for a guard, or for burst that needs hits taken first. Pepper hits hard from range but has to go airborne for rapid fire, which puts it just behind Keres. Haze plays more like a fast melee fighter than a Support, since the card lists no ally effect, so Haze trails Madelyn and Arkaya.

  • Ouyang Varen: A guard-first Assault: blocks keep Ouyang Varen in the fight while Impetus raises thrust damage.
  • Pyro: Burst-heavy Assault that grows stronger by absorbing hits. Comes free through the launch events.
  • Pepper: Ranged Disruptor with heavy Bowgun shots; the rapid-fire skills start with a jump into the air.
  • Haze: Support by label, damage dealer by kit: fast slashes and situational parries, but no ally buff.

B Useful in their class, but a classmate above does the same job with less setup.

Rhodes has to charge energy before the explosion, where Pyro and Ouyang Varen pay off sooner. Luxheart manages Heat stances on a Great Sword, which is more to track than Keres or Pepper. Ryunosuke is a Support whose payoff is personal: eating in a set stance leads to Well-fed and stronger Spirit Blade attacks, with nothing listed for allies.

  • Rhodes: Charged Hammer swings store energy for a large explosion, and Hammer head hits can stun.
  • Luxheart: Heat swaps the Great Sword between stances, and certain moves release stored energy in one volley.
  • Ryunosuke: A Support whose kit only powers up its owner: Well-fed Spirit Blade attacks hit far harder.

C The narrowest pick in its class; best for players who like that specific style.

Midori and Raya come last in Assault and Disruptor on paper. Midori relies on evasion and a faster Spirit Gauge, with damage that depends on timing. Raya trades stamina for a quicker Demon Gauge. Both suit players who enjoy agile play, but their classmates bring more to a squad.

  • Midori: Evasive Long Sword Assault. Headlines the first limited recruitment, but comes last in Assault on our reading.
  • Raya: For players happy to burn stamina in exchange for a quicker gauge: a Dual Blades Disruptor with a narrow, dodge-heavy style.

Full notes on the Monster Hunter Outlanders Best Class

What each class does, on paper

The official site splits the 13 Adventurers into three classes: 5 Assault, 4 Disruptor and 4 Support. It does not spell out what each class is for, so the descriptions below come from reading the kits inside each group.

Assault is about personal damage. Pyro converts hits taken into burst, Rhodes cashes stored energy into an explosion, and Ouyang Varen builds Impetus for harder thrusts. Luka is the outlier, the one Assault who fights from range.

Disruptor kits revolve around combos and resources. Keres chains fast Dual Blades strikes, Raya trades stamina for Demon Gauge, Luxheart swaps stances with Heat, and Pepper fires heavy shots from range. None of the four cards describes disrupting a monster directly, so treat the name as a label more than a promise.

Support is the most uneven class. Madelyn’s card states a boost for nearby allies, and Arkaya’s shield went to every squad member in the closed beta tests. Haze and Ryunosuke, though, list nothing for allies on their cards.

One tester also reports a class-based squadmate skill that only works for the three Adventurers you are not controlling. If that holds now that the game is live, class matters most for the squadmate slots.

The top pick in each class

Luka leads Assault, Keres leads Disruptor, and Madelyn and Arkaya share the top of Support. Their placements here are about standing inside a class, not across the whole roster, so check our Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list for the overall order. Keres, for example, leads the Disruptors here but sits in A on the main list.

Choosing a class for your Fated Adventurer

You control one Adventurer, and three more fight beside you as automatically controlled squadmates. That makes class a squad question rather than a personal one. If your squadmates already cover protection, such as Madelyn and Arkaya, the Adventurer you control is free to deal damage.

The official adventure guide uses an Assault-class Fated Adventurer with a Long Sword as its example, and the Fated Adventurer is proficient with more than one weapon type. The Charge Blade also arrives at launch as a weapon for the Fated Adventurer. For full line-ups built around these roles, see the Monster Hunter Outlanders best team page.

What we will check now that the game is live

The game went live on October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (October 29 in Asia). For classes, we want to learn whether the labels carry hidden effects the cards leave out, whether the class-based squadmate skills work as the tester reports, and whether Haze or Ryunosuke turn out to help allies after all.

Who this adventurer tier list is for

New players

Pick a class by how you like to fight, then start with its leader: Luka for Assault, Keres for Disruptor, and Madelyn or Arkaya for Support.

Experienced players

If you know the series, the A and B picks in each class reward more setup. Pyro, Rhodes and Luxheart all pay off big once their condition is met.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Best Class FAQ

What is the best class in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

On our day-one list, Support is the best class in Monster Hunter Outlanders, because two of its four Adventurers, Madelyn and Arkaya, hold S spots on our main tier list. Assault comes next through Luka, and in every class the kit matters more than the label.

What does each class do in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

The official material names three classes, Assault, Disruptor and Support, but does not define them, so we read them from the kits. On paper, Assault kits focus on personal damage, Disruptor kits on combos, gauges and stance changes, and Support kits on helping the squad, though only Madelyn and Arkaya actually do that.

Who is the best Support in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Madelyn and Arkaya share the top Support spot on our day-one list. Madelyn has the only ally boost written on an official card, and Arkaya's shield reached the whole squad in the closed beta tests.

Who is the best Assault Adventurer in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Luka is the best Assault Adventurer on our list, as the only one in the class with a ranged weapon, plus very high mobility. Ouyang Varen and Pyro follow in A.

Who is the best Disruptor in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Keres leads the Disruptors on our day-one list, with fast chained Dual Blades combos and follow-ups that certain skills unlock. Pepper is close behind as the ranged option.

Which class should I pick for my Fated Adventurer?

If you get to choose, pick the class your squad is missing. The official guide's example Fated Adventurer is an Assault with a Long Sword, and since three squadmates fight beside you, Assault damage pairs well with Support squadmates such as Madelyn and Arkaya.

How many Adventurers are in each class?

The official roster has 13 Adventurers: 5 Assault, 4 Disruptor and 4 Support. Assault is the only class with more than four members.

Do classes have their own squadmate skills?

One tester reports that each class has a squadmate skill that only works for the three Adventurers you are not controlling. In that report, the Assault skill deals a burst of damage when the monster is suppressed, and the Support skill charges every Adventurer ultimate when skill 3 lands.
