Raya in our tier list

C Raya fits a narrow style: players who enjoy constant dodging and will trade stamina for a faster Demon Gauge. That is a paper judgment from a short official card, not a result from play. See the full Monster Hunter Outlanders Tier List.

Raya strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Agile dodging movement gives Raya a natural way to stay out of trouble at close range.
  • Some skills turn stamina into a faster Demon Gauge, which feeds the enhanced Archdemon Mode attacks of the Dual Blades.
  • Melee Sharpness never wears down, so a dodge-heavy style loses no time to whetstones.

Weaknesses

  • Spending stamina on gauge leaves less in reserve, so we expect resource management to be the main skill test.
  • The card is short next to Keres and Haze, the other Dual Blades users, and lists nothing for squadmates.

Our take

Day-one call: Raya is for players who like agile Dual Blades and enjoy managing a resource. If that is you, try Raya, since C here means a narrow job, not a weak kit. Pair Raya with Arkaya or Madelyn so the squad still gets team help.

Raya is a narrow pick rather than a weak one. We place Raya in C tier on our day-one list: a Dual Blades Disruptor built for players who enjoy constant dodging and will spend stamina to fill the Demon Gauge faster. If that style appeals to you, Raya is worth a try.

What the official card tells us

Raya’s card is short and focused. It describes agile dodging movement and says some skills spend stamina to build the Demon Gauge faster. That is the whole trade: stamina in, gauge out.

The gauge matters because of the weapon. The official Dual Blades overview describes Demon Mode, which strengthens attacks and fills the Demon Gauge, and Archdemon Mode, which spends that gauge on enhanced attacks. A faster gauge should mean more time in Archdemon Mode, on paper. The card does not say how much stamina each skill costs or how quickly it returns.

Next to Keres and Haze, the other two Dual Blades users, Raya’s card lists fewer mechanics. It also names nothing for allies. That is why we read Raya as a specialist.

Where Raya fits in a squad

Raya stays mobile up close while the other three squad members, AI or player, cover the rest of the fight. Illustration by Monster Hunter Outlanders Tier List

A squad holds four Adventurers: the one you control plus three AI squadmates, or, as we expect online, one per player, though that is not confirmed yet. Raya takes a mobile close-range slot. Agile movement should help Raya follow the squad onto the part a Co-Op Skill needs, but the kit adds nothing for the other three.

So the squad around Raya should bring the team help. Arkaya and Madelyn are the natural partners, and Luka adds ranged damage from a safe distance. Players who want a more direct Dual Blades Disruptor can compare Raya with Keres on our Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list.

What we will check after launch

The game went live on October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (October 29 in Asia). Now that it is live, the open questions for Raya are:

  • How much stamina the gauge skills cost, and how fast stamina comes back.
  • Whether the faster Demon Gauge pays for itself in Archdemon Mode.
  • How Raya feels next to Keres and Haze in a real hunt.

If the stamina trade turns out cheap, Raya could climb out of C. Any move goes into the tier list changelog with the reason.

What to pair with Raya

  • Arkaya: Arkaya's shield reached every squad member in the closed beta tests, a cushion for an agile fighter who trades stamina for gauge.
  • Madelyn: Madelyn adds medicines and a Spore boost for allies close by, which Raya's card does not offer.
  • Luka: Luka covers ranged damage with very high mobility while Raya stays on the monster up close.

Raya FAQ

Is Raya good in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Raya is a narrow pick: we place Raya in C tier on our day-one list, as a Dual Blades Disruptor for players who enjoy dodging and will spend stamina to fill the Demon Gauge faster. C means a narrow job, not an unusable kit.

What weapon does Raya use?

Raya uses Dual Blades, a weapon shared with Keres and Haze. The weapon builds Demon Gauge in Demon Mode and spends it on enhanced attacks in Archdemon Mode.

Who should I pair with Raya?

Arkaya and Madelyn are our first picks to pair with Raya. Arkaya's shield reached every squad member in the closed beta tests, and Madelyn adds medicines and an ally boost that Raya's card lacks.

What class is Raya?

Raya is a Disruptor, alongside Keres, Luxheart and Pepper. On our class list, Raya sits last of the four on paper.

Why is Raya C tier?

Raya is C because the kit asks for a trade, stamina for gauge, and the official card lists fewer mechanics than Keres or Haze. It is a paper call that we will revisit now that the game is live.

Is Raya good for beginners?

Not as a first pick. Raya is C on our beginner list, since a new player still learning a monster may run short of stamina mid-fight.

Is Raya good solo?

Only for players who know the kit. Raya is C on our solo list, the one Adventurer left in that tier: the stamina trade asks for careful play when Raya is the one you control, and the payoff stays with Raya rather than helping your AI squadmates.
