Monster Hunter Outlanders Co-op

Yes, Monster Hunter Outlanders is co-op: up to four players hunt together live, or you can go solo with AI squadmates.

Checked for v1.0.9 Updated

Written from the official FAQs, official announcements and the official broadcast as checked on November 2, 2026. We will add where the squad button sits once we confirm it.

Our advice

  • Treat the Co-Op Skill as a cue to focus. On paper, a squad that agrees on one target part before the hunt will land it more often than a squad that spreads out across the monster.
  • Solo looks like a real option, not a fallback. Players' screens show three AI squadmates fighting beside you, so on paper a group that cannot line up schedules still gets a full squad.
  • Do not plan around offline play yet. Neither official FAQ describes an offline mode, and we will not guess either way until a publisher answers the question.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Co-op, step by step

  1. Join the same server as your friends

Agree on one regional server before anyone creates a character. Both official FAQs say players on different regional servers cannot team up, add each other as friends or share a squad, and characters cannot move between regions. The Garena FAQ tells friends to make their characters on the same server.

  2. Illustration of three hunters waving beside a camp signal pole while a fourth hunter runs up the mountain path to join them
Step 2: the store listing says a single tap rallies friends into a 4-player hunting squad. Illustration by Monster Hunter Outlanders Tier List

Form a squad of up to four

The store listing says you can explore the field on your own, or call in friends with a single tap to build a hunting squad of four. It does not say where that tap happens. We have not confirmed the button yet and will add its location here once we do.

  3. Illustration of four hunters striking the glowing foreleg of a huge horned monster at the same moment
Step 3: the Co-Op Skill only succeeds when the rest of the squad hits the same part. Illustration by Monster Hunter Outlanders Tier List

Hit the same part for the Co-Op Skill

The whole squad draws on one shared energy pool for the Co-Op Skill. Once one Adventurer starts it, everyone else has to strike the same part of the monster, or the skill fails. Pick a target part before the fight and switch to it the moment the skill begins.

  4. Illustration of a hunter on a rock at a windy mountain outpost, holding a dark phone up to the sky next to a signal flag
Step 4: if a hunt lags or drops, run Network Test in Settings before you try again. Illustration by Monster Hunter Outlanders Tier List

Check your connection if a hunt lags

If a hunt stutters or you get disconnected, the Garena FAQ points you to Settings, then Network Test, to see how stable your connection is. If the result looks poor, move to another network or try again later.

Where people get stuck

Making a character on a different regional server from your friends

Cross-region teams, friend requests and squads are not supported, and characters do not transfer. Confirm the exact server name with your group before you start.

The Co-Op Skill fails because the squad spread out

The skill only lands if everyone follows up on the part the first Adventurer targeted. Settle on a part before the hunt so nobody has to guess mid-fight.

Assuming the game has an offline mode

Neither official FAQ describes an offline mode or says whether one exists. Treat it as unknown, and check back here once a publisher answers.

Lag or disconnects in the middle of a hunt

Open Settings, then Network Test, to check stability. Change to another network or wait and try again later, as the Garena FAQ advises.

Co-op at a glance

Yes, you can hunt with friends. Up to four players can take on a monster together in real time. Garena’s official announcement frames this as squad play: members split roles, back each other up and stack their Co-Op Skills. If your friends are busy, you can still hunt alone. Players’ screens show that you control one Adventurer while three more fight as squadmates run by the game, and you can leave those slots empty.

Two limits matter before you start. Squads only form inside one regional server, because the official FAQs rule out cross-region teams, friend requests and character transfers. On offline play, we found no official statement either way. The status grid in step 1 puts all of this in one place.

The game is on iOS and Android, so every hunt here happens on a phone or tablet.

How to invite friends

The official text on inviting is short. According to the store listing, solo exploring is an option, and so is pulling friends into a four-player squad with one tap. Nothing more is spelled out. It does not name the menu or show where the button sits, and we have not confirmed it ourselves yet. We will add the exact location to this section once we do.

The step that matters most comes earlier. Everyone in the group needs a character on the same regional server. The Garena FAQ tells friends to do exactly that, and both FAQs say characters cannot move between regions. If one person starts on the wrong server, that character cannot join the rest of the group later.

Playing as a squad

The Co-Op Skill is where squad play shows most. The squad fills one shared energy pool for it. When one Adventurer fires the skill, the other members need to hit the same part of the monster, or it does not succeed. On paper, this rewards squads that choose a target part early. A team where one person chases the tail while the rest work on the head will burn the shared energy for nothing.

Solo play has its own setup. Players’ screens show that you control one Adventurer, and three others fight beside you as automatically controlled squadmates. You can set any unlocked Adventurer as your own pick, and the Fated Adventurer, the game’s player character, can sit in a squadmate slot instead. The official text does not explain how these AI slots work once friends join, so we leave that part out for now.

One player reports that class-based squadmate skills only trigger for the three Adventurers you are not controlling. In that report, an Assault squadmate adds a burst of damage when the monster is suppressed, and a Support squadmate charges every Adventurer’s ultimate when its skill 3 lands. This comes from a single source, so treat it as unconfirmed.

Guilds and Guild Clash

Co-op goes beyond single hunts. Garena’s announcement names two social systems on top of hunting large monsters together: fixed teams and adventure guilds. It does not explain how each one works, so we will add details once we can confirm them.

Guild Clash is the guild-level mode. The official Adventurers’ Digest Vol.3 broadcast describes it as a multiplayer hunting competition: two teams share one hunting ground and compete there. It is a contest at hunting. No official text describes it as a mode where players fight each other, and no PvP mode has been announced.

Can you play offline?

We found no official statement. Neither the Level Infinite launch FAQ nor the Garena FAQ says whether the game can be played offline, and neither describes an offline mode. We are not going to guess in either direction. If a publisher answers the question, this section will change.

What the Garena FAQ does cover is connection trouble during play. If a hunt lags or you get disconnected, go to Settings, then Network Test, to check how stable your network is. If it looks weak, switch to another network or try again later. That advice is about fixing lag. It tells us nothing about whether offline play exists.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Co-op: FAQ

Is Monster Hunter Outlanders co-op?

Yes. Up to four players can hunt together live, each taking a role, covering for one another and chaining Co-Op Skills. You can also hunt solo, with AI-controlled squadmates if you want them.

Can you play Monster Hunter Outlanders offline?

We found no official answer. Neither the Level Infinite launch FAQ nor the Garena FAQ says whether the game can be played offline, and neither describes an offline mode. We will update this page if a publisher addresses it.

How many players can hunt together in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Four. The App Store listing gives a hunting squad size of 4 players, and Garena's official announcement describes real-time parties of up to four.

Can I play with friends on another server?

No. Both official FAQs say players on different regional servers cannot team up, add each other as friends or share a squad. Neither FAQ covers Garena and Level Infinite servers linking up; we expect the two do not connect, but that is our read, not an official line. See monster hunter outlanders garena vs level infinite.

How do I invite friends?

The store listing says a single tap rallies friends into a 4-player hunting squad. It does not say where that option sits, and we have not confirmed it yet, so we will add the exact steps once we do. Make sure everyone is on the same server first.

Can I play solo?

Yes. Players' screens show that you control one Adventurer while three more fight as automatically controlled squadmates, and those squadmates are optional when you play alone.

Is there PvP in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

No PvP mode has been announced. Guild Clash pits guild against guild in a race on a shared hunting ground, which is a hunting contest rather than player-versus-player fighting.

What is Guild Clash?

A multiplayer hunting competition for guilds, shown on the official Adventurers' Digest Vol.3 broadcast. Each side brings a team, and both work the same map at once to see who hunts better. We have no official details on rules or rewards beyond that, so we do not list any.

Do I have to play as the Fated Adventurer?

No. The Fated Adventurer is the player character, but players' screens show that any unlocked Adventurer can be the one you control, and the Fated Adventurer can fill a squadmate slot instead.
