What changed in Monster Hunter Outlanders 1.0.9
- The official roster opens with 13 Adventurers, and each one belongs to one of three classes: Assault, Support or Disruptor. (official notes)
- On the App Store the live build is 1.0.9. Hunts are built around squads of four, and eight weapon types are available, Charge Blade among them. (official notes)
- The launch FAQ sets up separate Europe, Japan and North America servers with no cross-region squads, friends or character moves, plus two control schemes: three-button Adventure Mode and Classic Mode. (official notes)
- Servers opened worldwide on October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (October 29 in Asia), matching the October 29 date in the launch announcement. (official notes)
- The official launch preview shows players hunting as one of several Adventurers while other Adventurers join the hunt and fight alongside. (official notes)
- The Charge Blade arrives at launch as the eighth weapon type, added for the Fated Adventurer. (official notes)
- Recruitment uses SSR and SR grades. Midori leads the first featured recruitment, Rhodes leads the first rotating one, and launch event missions give items for more than 400 recruits plus Luka and Pyro. (official notes)

What 1.0.9 does to the Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list
- How Adventurers join a hunt: Now confirmed by the official launch preview and gameplay videos: you control one Adventurer and three more fight beside you as AI squadmates. Our squad advice now scores what those three add, so no placement moved.
- Arkaya: In the closed beta tests, every squad member gained Arkaya's shield too. Testers in the closed beta also report low personal damage, but protecting the whole squad is worth more, so Arkaya holds S on our main list and rises from A to S on the best team list.
- Haze: Haze is listed as Support, yet the official card describes only fast Dual Blades pressure and Archdemon Mode parries, with no ally buff. Squad value is unverified, so the placement holds for now.
- Charge Blade: Charge Blade arrives as the eighth weapon type for the Fated Adventurer, but no Adventurer on the official roster uses it and we have no official overview of how it plays, so it stays off the weapon tier list for now.
- Hammer: The official Hammer overview removed our old reason, too little information. We re-scored it: head stuns and charging on the move help, but it cannot guard, so it stays in B on the weapon list.
- Ryunosuke: Up from C to B on the solo list. With the default three AI squadmates, the eating setup is no harder there than anywhere else; Arkaya and Madelyn simply do the Support job better.
- Luxheart: Up from C to B on the solo list. With AI squadmates in the hunt, juggling Heat stances is no riskier than on other lists; Pepper covers Disruptor damage with less to manage.
- Online co-op control: No source yet says how control works when several players hunt together. We expect each player to control their own Adventurer, but that is not confirmed, so the team advice treats it as expected.
Our verdict
Version 1.0.9 is the starting line, not a balance patch, so there is nothing to buff or nerf yet. Use our day-one lists as a paper read of the official kits; we will re-rank after hands-on hunts and log each move here.
Our take
- Pick your server by where your friends play. The launch FAQ rules out cross-region squads and character transfers, so moving your character later is not an option.
- Treat the Haze placement as provisional, since its value to a squad is still unconfirmed. Arkaya's rests on closed beta reports, so now that the game is live we will re-check the squad shield in real hunts, along with how online co-op control works.
What launch version 1.0.9 includes
Version 1.0.9 is the build that went live when servers opened on October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (October 29 in Asia). It is the first public version, so there is no earlier live patch to compare it with. Treat this page as a record of the starting state.
The official site shows 13 Adventurers across three classes: five Assault, four Disruptor and four Support. Three Buddy types sit alongside them. The App Store listing confirms eight weapon types and hunting squads of four. The official launch preview adds that the Charge Blade is the eighth weapon, added for the Fated Adventurer. Every Adventurer can Perfect Evade, and the whole squad draws on one shared energy pool for the Co-Op Skill.
Servers are split by region: North America, Japan and Europe. The launch FAQ is clear that regions do not mix. You cannot team up, add friends or form squads across them, and characters cannot transfer. Pick your region with your group in mind.
Two control schemes ship at launch. On paper, players new to the series or to action games on a touchscreen are the natural fit for Adventure Mode, which keeps things to an Attack, Evade and Burst button, while series veterans will likely feel at home in Classic Mode with its traditional Monster Hunter layout. The game runs on iOS and Android and supports controllers.
What it means for our tier lists
Because 1.0.9 is the launch build, no patch has moved anyone. Our tier list and the weapon tier list are day-one rankings based on the official kit, not on hunts we have played. The full method is on how we rank. A few placements did move without a patch. On new pre-launch evidence, Arkaya rose from A to S on the best team list. On the solo list, Ryunosuke and Luxheart moved from C to B once we framed solo play around the default three AI squadmates.
Two earlier open questions are now settled:
- How Adventurers join a hunt (confirmed): you control one Adventurer, either your custom Fated Adventurer or any Adventurer you have unlocked, and three more fight beside you as automatically controlled squadmates. You can also hunt without them. Sources: the official launch preview video and gameplay videos.
- Who gets Arkaya’s shield (confirmed in the closed beta tests): when Arkaya gained a shield, every squad member gained it too. The official skill video shows the shield but not who receives it, so this comes from gameplay videos of the closed beta tests. Testers in the closed beta also report that Arkaya’s own damage is low. Arkaya keeps S on our main list.
Still open, in the order we will check them now that the game is live:
- Haze: listed as Support, yet the official card names no ally buff. There is no official skill video for Haze and no tester report on whether Haze buffs allies, so Haze’s value to a squad stays unconfirmed.
- Online co-op control: no source yet says how control works when several players hunt together. We expect each player to control their own Adventurer, but that is not confirmed.
- Recruitment rates and pity: the official launch preview does not publish them, so we do not guess.
- Charge Blade: the eighth weapon type, added for the Fated Adventurer, but no launch Adventurer on the official site uses it, and we have no official overview of how it plays. It stays off the weapon list for now.
Recruitment at launch
The official launch preview names two rarity grades, SSR and SR. The first featured recruitment uses featured contracts and raises the chance for Midori, a limited SSR. Alongside it, a rotating recruitment uses standard contracts and boosts one standard SSR, starting with Rhodes. Event missions after launch hand out recruitment items for more than 400 recruits, and the launch events also bring two SSR Adventurers, Luka and Pyro. Luka sits in S on our main list, so new players get a top pick without relying on luck.
Where ranking changes will be logged
Every ranking change will go in two places. Each tier list keeps a changelog at the bottom of its page, with the date, the game version, who moved and why. This page then collects those entries for version 1.0.9, so you can see every move in one spot.
The first changes we expect are not patch-driven. They will come from hands-on checks of the open questions above. The first post-launch recheck is set for November 1, 2026 and covers Midori, Arkaya and Pepper; a placement moves only if 2 or more independent player tests with numbers, from arena solo rankings or timed runs, agree. When a real balance patch lands, we will add a new update page for that version and link it from here.
