Ryunosuke strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
- The card promises a much stronger Spirit Blade once Ryunosuke is Well-fed, a clear and easy-to-read payoff.
- The Long Sword moves quickly and links combos, so Ryunosuke should stay mobile between meals, on paper.
- One player reports the Support squadmate skill charges every ultimate when skill 3 lands, which would make Ryunosuke useful on AI.
- One player reports Ryunosuke is free from Rank Rush, so Ryunosuke should not cost any pulls.
Weaknesses
- Ryunosuke has to eat in set stances before the Spirit Blade peaks, and that step spends time in a fight.
- For a Support, the official card lists no heal, buff or shield for allies, so on paper Madelyn gives a squad more.
- Long Sword counters need timing, which adds a second skill check on top of the eating step.
Our take
- Day-one paper call: collect Ryunosuke from Rank Rush and spend nothing on Ryunosuke. The free route rests on one player report, so confirm the reward in the event before you plan a squad around it.
- We expect Ryunosuke to help most as an AI squadmate, where the reported Support skill can charge ultimates. That is a judgment from the kit and one report, not from our own play, and it may change once tested data arrives.
Ryunosuke starts in B on our day-one list. A Well-fed Ryunosuke gets a much stronger Spirit Blade, but must eat in certain stances first. Madelyn, a fellow Support, helps the squad with medicines and Spores and skips that step.
Ryunosuke should cost nothing. One player reports the Rank Rush event hands Ryunosuke out for free, so keep pulls for SSR Adventurers.
What the official card tells us
The plan is easy to say and harder to run: eat, then hit. A snack taken mid-stance charges Ryunosuke up, and the Spirit Blade only peaks once that Well-fed state is on. The card gives no numbers, so “much stronger” is all we have.
Per the official weapon overview, the Long Sword moves quickly and links combos. A Spirit Gauge levels up power attacks, timed counters can raise that level, and spending levels unlocks big finishers. Only Ryunosuke and Midori carry one.
So Ryunosuke juggles the meal behind Well-fed and the Long Sword gauge. The card never mentions allies, a gap for a Support, which is why we expect Madelyn to give a squad more.
Where Ryunosuke fits in a squad
Players report you steer one Adventurer and three more fight on their own. One player adds that squadmate skills only work for those three, and the Support one charges every ultimate when skill 3 lands. If that holds, Ryunosuke may do more from a squadmate slot than in your hands.
The eating step is the catch, since we do not know if an AI Ryunosuke picks safe moments. A partner who absorbs pressure would help: Arkaya spread a shield across the squad in the closed beta tests, and Luka, free from the launch events, deals damage from range while ultimates charge. What we will check after launch
The game went live on October 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (October 29 in Asia). Our open questions:
- How long Well-fed lasts, and how often Ryunosuke must eat.
- Whether eating can be interrupted, and how an AI Ryunosuke times it.
- Whether a second source backs the Support squadmate skill report.
If Well-fed lasts most of a hunt and the squadmate skill holds up, Ryunosuke could rise to A; if eating proves slow or risky, C is possible. The changelog of our tier list records each move.
What to pair with Ryunosuke
- Luka: Luka comes free from the launch events and deals damage from range. If you control Luka while an AI Ryunosuke charges ultimates, as one player reports a Support squadmate can, both sides of the kit get used.
- Arkaya: Eating in a set stance may leave Ryunosuke open. Closed beta testers saw a shield on Arkaya spread to the full squad, which could cover that window, on paper.
- Luxheart: One player reports Luxheart and Ryunosuke both arrive through Rank Rush. Luxheart wants a human at the controls for stance swaps, which leaves Ryunosuke free to take the squadmate slot.

Is Ryunosuke good in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
Ryunosuke is usable but not a first pick. We rank Ryunosuke B on day one: the Spirit Blade becomes much stronger when Well-fed, yet Ryunosuke must eat in set stances first, and Madelyn supports with no such step.
How do I get Ryunosuke?
One player reports Ryunosuke comes free from the Rank Rush event, which pays out SR Adventurers at Adventurer Rank 20 and 30. Only that one report covers the route so far, so check the event before you count on it.
What does Well-fed do for Ryunosuke?
Per the official card, Well-fed makes the Spirit Blade much stronger. Getting there means stopping to eat, but only from particular stances. The card does not say how long Well-fed lasts or how large the boost is.
What weapon does Ryunosuke use?
The Long Sword. Among the 13 Adventurers, Midori is the only other one who carries it. The official overview describes quick combos, timed counters and a Spirit Gauge whose levels feed big finishers.
Should I use Ryunosuke or Madelyn?
Madelyn, on paper. Madelyn's card names medicines plus Spores that, once detonated, boost Madelyn and allies nearby. Ryunosuke's card lists no ally effect at all. Both are SR, and one player reports both come free.
Should I control Ryunosuke or use Ryunosuke as a squadmate?
A squadmate slot looks better on paper. One player reports squadmate skills only work for the three Adventurers you are not controlling, and the Support one charges every ultimate when skill 3 lands. No second source backs that yet.
Should I spend pulls on Ryunosuke?
