Recommended squads

Balanced

Two Supports and two Assaults, the first squad on our best team page. Arkaya and Ouyang Varen hold the front with Lances while Madelyn and Luka shoot from behind.

Front line

Three melee hunters press one monster part for the Co-Op Skill, and Madelyn backs them with medicines and Spores from behind. We expect this one to need the most practice.

Mostly ranged

Three shooters stay back and Arkaya holds the front alone with a Lance. On paper, firing from range makes it easier for the shooters to keep hitting one part.

Our advice

  • Start with the Adventurer you already play most, then add a Support such as Madelyn. This is a paper suggestion from the official kits, made in launch week, not a result from tested hunts.
  • If you are short on recruits, look at the free picks first. Luka and Pyro come from the launch events, so a squad built around them costs you nothing to field.

How to use the team builder

The builder opens with three buttons. Use a recommended squad takes you to our three ready squads, and one tap fills all four slots. Start from my main asks you to tap the Adventurer you play most. That pick goes in the first slot. Build a random squad fills the slots for you, which is handy when you just want ideas.

You can also skip the buttons. Tap a portrait to add that Adventurer to the squad, and tap the same portrait again to take the pick out. When all four slots are full, remove someone before you add a new name. Copy link to this squad saves your picks in the page address, and Start over clears everything.

The first slot is the one you control. The other three are AI squadmates. Players report that solo hunts work this way: you play one Adventurer, and three more join under automatic control. Squadmates are optional, so a smaller squad is fine too.

What the tips mean

As you pick, short tips appear under What to know. Each one is a single plain line, and the small print under it shows the fact it rests on. The tips look at three things: a missing class, such as no Support; a crowded melee line, with three or more close-range weapons; and how you get each Adventurer, such as the free launch gifts or the limited Midori.

The builder does not score your squad. We have no tested damage or clear-time numbers yet, and a score would look more certain than it is. The Classes in this squad line counts your Assault, Disruptor and Support picks instead. If no tips show up, nothing is missing that the official info lets us spot.

About the Fated Adventurer

The Fated Adventurer is your own custom hero. Players report the hero can sit in a squadmate slot. We left the Fated Adventurer out of the builder for now, because the official material does not give the hero a fixed class. The official adventure guide shows an Assault Fated Adventurer with a long sword, but that is one example, not a rule. We will add the hero once the class question is clear.

The three squads match the ones on our monster hunter outlanders best team page. Balanced pairs two Supports with two Assaults. Front line puts three melee hunters on one part with Madelyn behind them. Mostly ranged keeps three shooters back with Arkaya in front. All three are paper plans built from the official kits, not results from tested hunts.

Portraits, classes and tiers come from our monster hunter outlanders tier list. When the ranking changes, the builder changes with it.

Monster Hunter Outlanders Team Builder: FAQ

How do I build a team in Monster Hunter Outlanders?

Put the Adventurer you play in the first slot, then add three AI squadmates. On paper, keep at least one Support, such as Madelyn, and fill the rest with Assault or Disruptor picks. In this builder, tap portraits to fill the four slots and read the tips for gaps.

What classes should a Monster Hunter Outlanders squad have?

The official roster splits the 13 Adventurers into 5 Assault, 4 Disruptor and 4 Support. We suggest at least one Support, because Madelyn is the only Adventurer whose official profile boosts nearby allies. Fill the other slots with Assault damage, and add a Disruptor if your group wants one.

Can I plan a solo squad with AI squadmates?

Yes. Players report that you control one Adventurer while three more fight beside you under automatic control, and that squadmates are optional. The builder follows that setup: slot one is you, and the other three are AI squadmates.

Can I share my squad?

Yes. Your picks are saved in the page address. Tap Copy link to this squad and send the link, and whoever opens it sees the same four Adventurers in the same slots.

Does the team builder use the tier list?

Yes. The builder reads our main tier list when the site is built, so portraits, classes, weapons and tiers match that list. When we move an Adventurer on the tier list, the builder shows the change too.

Can I add the Fated Adventurer?

Not yet. Players report your custom hero can fill a squadmate slot in the game, but the official material gives the Fated Adventurer no fixed class, so we cannot label the hero correctly. We will add the hero once that is clear.

Who brings which Adventurer in online co-op?

No source we use confirms it yet. This builder plans one player plus three AI squadmates. We expect each player to bring one Adventurer when playing online, but treat that as a guess until launch-week reports settle it.
